46 U.S.C. § 40104 — Reports filed with the Commission

(a) Reports. (1) In general: The Federal Maritime Commission can require a common carrier or marine terminal operator — or that company's officer, receiver, trustee, lessee, agent, or employee — to file a periodic or special report, an account, a record, a rate or charge, or a memo of facts and events related to the company's business. (2) Requirements: Anything filed under (1) must, if the Commission requires it, be made under oath, and must be filed in the format and by the deadline the Commission sets. (3) Limitation: The Commission must (A) keep the scope of any filing order limited to what's needed to meet the order's goal, and (B) give people a reasonable amount of time to respond, based on their ability to do so and how big the order is. (b) Conference Minutes. Minutes from conference meetings that get filed with the Commission under this section can't be given to outside parties or published by the Commission.
