46 U.S.C. § 57108 — Consideration of ballast and equipment in determining selling price
submitted 20 years ago by Pub. L. 109-304 to r/title-46-SHIPPING · 28 words · no verdicts yet
This short law requires the Maritime Administration to count and value a vessel's ballast and equipment before selling it, and to factor that value into the vessel's selling price.
Before the Maritime Administration can sell a vessel*, it must first make a list (inventory) of the vessel's ballast and equipment, figure out their value, and take that value into account when setting the vessel's selling price.
The Maritime Administration may not sell a vessel* until its ballast and equipment have been inventoried and their value considered in determining the selling price of the vessel.
