49 U.S.C. § 1304 — Reports

(a) Annual report.—Each year the Board must send Congress a report on its activities, including every investigation it initiated on its own under this chapter or subtitle IV. (b) Rate-case metrics.— (1) Each quarter, the Board must post a report on rail-rate review cases pending or completed during the previous quarter. It must include (A) docket number, case name, commodities, and rate-review guidelines; (B) proceeding start date; (C) discovery-completion date; (D) evidentiary-record completion date; (E) closing-brief submission date; (F) final-decision date; and (G) a short final-decision summary. (2) Each report must be posted on the Board’s public website. (c) Complaints.— (1) The Board must establish and maintain a complaint database. (2) Each quarter it must post a report on formal and informal service complaints received in the previous quarter, including (A) receipt date; (B) each complaint type; (C) geographic region; and (D) resolution, when appropriate. (3) An informal complainant may be identified only with that complainant’s written consent. (4) Each report must be posted on the Board’s public website.
