49 U.S.C. § 13705 — Requirements for through routes among motor carriers of passengers

Passenger motor carriers must set up through routes and joint rates with other passenger carriers, and those routes must be reasonable. The Board can order carriers to create through routes when it needs to enforce this rule.
(a) Establishment; Reasonableness: A motor carrier* moving passengers under subchapter I of chapter 135 must set up through routes with other same-type carriers, and must set individual and joint rates for them. These through routes must be reasonable.
(b) Prescribed by Board*: When the Board decides it needs to enforce this section, it may order through routes and set the conditions those routes must run under for passenger motor carriers under subchapter I of chapter 135.
A motor carrier* providing transportation* of passengers subject to jurisdiction under subchapter I of chapter 135 shall establish through routes with other carriers of the same type and shall establish individual and joint rates applicable to them. Such through route must be reasonable.
When the Board finds it necessary to enforce the requirements of this section, the Board may prescribe through routes and the conditions under which those routes must be operated for motor carriers providing transportation of passengers subject to jurisdiction under subchapter I of chapter 135.
