49 U.S.C. § 47533 — Relationship to other laws

Except for section 47524, this subchapter preserves specified local airport-noise laws and proceedings and the Secretary’s authority to seek legal remedies. It also preserves certain general-aviation restrictions already in process.
Except as section 47524 provides, this subchapter does not affect: (1) local-authority law on airport noise or access restrictions that was in effect November 5, 1990; (2) a proposed restriction at a general-aviation airport when the proprietor formally began a regulatory or legislative process before October 2, 1990; or (3) the Secretary’s authority to seek and obtain legal remedies the Secretary considers appropriate, including an injunction.
Except as provided by section 47524 of this title, this subchapter does not affect—
law in effect on November 5, 1990, on airport noise or access restrictions by local authorities;
any proposed airport noise or access restriction at a general aviation airport if the airport proprietor has formally initiated a regulatory or legislative process before October 2, 1990; or
the authority of the Secretary of Transportation to seek and obtain legal remedies the Secretary considers appropriate, including injunctive relief.
