This section invalidates unauthorized changes to a bill of lading while preserving the original terms.
A change or addition made to a bill of lading after a common carrier issued it is void unless the carrier authorized it in writing or noted it on the bill. The bill’s original terms remain enforceable.
An alteration or addition to a bill of lading after its issuance by a common carrier, without authorization from the carrier in writing or noted on the bill, is void. However, the original terms of the bill are enforceable.
