This section treats a qualifying student-employee who is disabled or dies from a training-related injury as an employee injured in the performance of duty.
A “student-employee” defined by section 5351 who becomes disabled or dies because of a personal injury arising from and during training, or because of duties connected with training, is treated under this subchapter as an employee whose injury happened while performing duty.
A student-employee as defined by section 5351 of this title who suffers disability or death as a result of personal injury arising out of and in the course of training, or incurred in the performance of duties in connection with that training, is considered for the purpose of this subchapter an employee who incurred the injury in the performance of duty.
