With the employee’s and the other government’s or organization’s agreement, the Administrator may extend certain assignments to or from state or local governments, colleges, or other organizations for up to four years.
For applying the third sentence of section 3372(a), concerning an agency head’s authority to extend an employee’s assignment to or from a state or local government, an institution of higher education, or another organization, the Administrator* may, with the employee’s agreement and the agreement of the government or organization involved, take any action that would be allowed if that sentence said “four” instead of “two.”
For purposes of applying the third sentence of section 3372(a) (relating to the authority of the head of a Federal agency to extend the period of an employee’s assignment to or from a State or local government, institution of higher education, or other organization), the Administrator* may, with the concurrence of the employee* and the government or organization concerned, take any action which would be allowable if such sentence had been amended by striking “two” and inserting “four”.
