This section states the purposes of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.
The chapter’s purposes are (1) to provide, strengthen, and speed national defense by protecting United States servicemembers so they can devote all their energy to the Nation’s defense; and (2) to temporarily suspend judicial and administrative proceedings and transactions that could harm servicemembers’ civil rights during military service*.
The purposes of this chapter are—
to provide for, strengthen, and expedite the national defense through protection extended by this chapter to servicemembers of the United States to enable such persons to devote their entire energy to the defense needs of the Nation; and
to provide for the temporary suspension of judicial and administrative proceedings and transactions that may adversely affect the civil rights of servicemembers during their military service*.
