This chapter can't be read to weaken or take away any right guaranteed by the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 1973 et seq.). That law's provisions are now found at 52 U.S.C. 10301 and following.
This chapter shall not be construed to impair any right guaranteed by the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (42 U.S.C. 1973 et seq.) [now 52 U.S.C. 10301 et seq.].
