The Secretary may support a network of government and nongovernment entities focused on interpreting and teaching national women’s rights history, including preservation. The Secretary must competitively select a nongovernment entity to manage the network, and federal assistance generally covers 50 percent of an activity’s cost.
(a) Grants. The Secretary* may give matching grants and technical help to develop a network of government and nongovernment entities. This section calls that network the "network." Its purpose is to develop programs that interpret and teach the history of women’s rights in the Nation, including historic preservation.
(b) Management of Network. (1) In general. The Secretary must use a competitive process to designate a nongovernment managing entity to manage the network. (2) Coordination. The designated managing entity must work with the Director* and State historic preservation offices to coordinate the network’s operation.
(c) Cost-Sharing Requirement. (1) In general. The Federal Government’s share of the cost of any activity using assistance under this section must be 50 percent. (2) State historic preservation offices. Matching grants for network-specific historic preservation may be made available through State historic preservation offices.
(d) Authorization of Appropriations. Congress authorizes $1,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2012 and 2013 to be appropriated to the Secretary to carry out this section.
The Secretary* may make matching grants and give technical assistance for development of a network of governmental and nongovernmental entities (referred to in this section as the “network”), the purpose of which is to provide interpretive and educational program development of national women’s rights history, including historic preservation.
Through a competitive process, the Secretary shall designate a nongovernmental managing entity to manage the network.
The nongovernmental managing entity designated under paragraph (1) shall work in partnership with the Director* and State historic preservation offices to coordinate operation of the network.
The Federal share of the cost of any activity carried out using any assistance made available under this section shall be 50 percent.
Matching grants for historic preservation specific to the network may be made available through State historic preservation offices.
There is authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary to carry out this section $1,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2012 and 2013.
