6 U.S.C. § 217 — Allocation of resources by the Secretary

(a) In general: The Secretary must make sure adequate staffing is provided, so that the level of customs revenue services provided the day before this chapter's effective date continues to be provided. (b) Notifying Congress: The Secretary must notify the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Senate Committee on Finance at least 90 days before taking any action that would (1) significantly reduce customs revenue services — including hours of operation — at any Department office or port of entry; (2) eliminate or relocate any Department office that provides customs revenue services; or (3) eliminate any port of entry. (c) Definition: In this section, "customs revenue services" means the customs revenue functions described in paragraphs (1) through (6) and paragraph (8) of section 215 of this title.
