6 U.S.C. § 555 — Continuity of Inspector General oversight

After an agency transfers to the Department, its former Inspector General continues oversight until the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General is appointed.
Even after an agency* is transferred to the Department* under this chapter, the Inspector General who oversaw that agency before the transfer continues overseeing it during any period between the transfer and appointment of the Department of Homeland* Security Inspector General under section 113(b).
Notwithstanding the transfer of an agency* to the Department* pursuant to this chapter, the Inspector General that exercised oversight of such agency prior to such transfer shall continue to exercise oversight of such agency during the period of time, if any, between the transfer of such agency to the Department pursuant to this chapter and the appointment of the Inspector General of the Department of Homeland* Security in accordance with section 113(b) of this title.
