6 U.S.C. § 654 — Infrastructure Security Division

(a) Establishment. (1) An Infrastructure Security Division is established in the Agency^*. (2) It is headed by an Executive Assistant Director^* for Infrastructure Security, called “the Executive Assistant Director” here. The position is at the Assistant Secretary^* level in the Department^*, is appointed by the President without Senate confirmation, and reports to the Director. (3) Any reference in a United States law, regulation, map, document, record, or other paper to the Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection or Assistant Director for Infrastructure Security means the Executive Assistant Director for Infrastructure Security.

(b) Functions^*. The Executive Assistant Director must—(1) direct the Agency’s critical-infrastructure security efforts; (2) at the Director’s direction, carry out the Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standards Program and the secure-handling-of-ammonium-nitrate program, or successor programs; (3) fully participate in the mechanisms required by section 652(c)(7); and (4) perform the other duties and exercise the other powers the Director prescribes.
