Dealers and exhibitors must mark or identify animals in commerce at the time and in the humane way the Secretary sets. Research facilities need to mark or identify only live dogs and cats.
A dealer* or exhibitor* must mark or identify every animal* delivered for transportation, transported, purchased, or sold in commerce* at the time and in the humane manner the Secretary* prescribes. A research facility* only needs to mark or identify live dogs and cats.
All animals delivered for transportation, transported, purchased, or sold, in commerce*, by a dealer* or exhibitor* shall be marked or identified at such time and in such humane manner as the Secretary* may prescribe: Provided, That only live dogs and cats need be so marked or identified by a research facility*.
