Federal district courts have exclusive power to hear lawsuits brought under this chapter. This applies no matter how much money is at stake or where the parties live. This law does not stop people from using an enforceable arbitration agreement instead.
(a) Federal jurisdiction
A U.S. district court has exclusive jurisdiction over any lawsuit brought under this chapter. It does not matter how much money is involved or what state or country the parties are from.
(b) Arbitration
Nothing in this chapter blocks an arbitration agreement from being enforced, if it would otherwise be enforceable under chapter 1 of title 9 (the Federal Arbitration Act).
A district court of the United States shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any action brought under this chapter without regard to the amount in controversy or the citizenship of the parties.
Nothing in this chapter prevents the enforceability of an agreement to arbitrate that would otherwise be enforceable under chapter 1 of title 9.
