This section addresses purposes. It sets the rules stated in the section.
This chapter aims to set national standards for marketing certain farm products as organic; assure consumers that organic products meet a consistent standard; and make interstate commerce in fresh and processed organic food easier.
It is the purpose of this chapter—
to establish national standards governing the marketing of certain agricultural products as organically produced* products;
to assure consumers that organically produced products meet a consistent standard; and
to facilitate interstate commerce in fresh and processed food that is organically produced.
