7 U.S.C. § 940g — Electric loans for renewable energy

A “renewable energy source” is a solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, or geothermal energy conversion system. The Secretary may make electric loans for renewable generation for resale, at a rate based on comparable tax-exempt municipal bonds.
(a) “Renewable energy source” means an energy-conversion system fueled by solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, or geothermal energy. This section does not otherwise define the quoted term. (b) In addition to other available authority and funds, the Secretary* may make electric loans under this subchapter for generating electricity from renewable resources for resale to rural and nonrural residents. (c) The interest rate equals the average tax-exempt municipal-bond rate for bonds with similar maturities.
In this section, the term “renewable energy source” means an energy conversion system fueled from a solar, wind, hydropower, biomass, or geothermal source of energy.
In addition to any other funds or authorities otherwise made available under this chapter, the Secretary* may make electric loans under this subchapter for electric generation from renewable energy resources for resale to rural and nonrural residents.
The rate of a loan under this section shall be equal to the average tax-exempt municipal bond rate of similar maturities.
