10 U.S.C. § 12322 — Active duty for health care

A member hurt or made sick while on duty can be ordered onto active duty, or kept on it, for more than 30 days while getting treated or recovering. This applies to members described in specific paragraphs of section 1074a(a).
This section lets certain uniformed service members stay on active duty*, or be newly ordered to it, for longer than 30 days if they are being treated for, or recovering from, an injury, illness, or disease that happened or got worse in the line of duty. Members described in section 1074a(a) paragraph (1)(B) or (2)(B) can be ordered onto active duty for this reason. Members already covered by paragraph (1)(A) or (2)(A) of the same section can be continued on active duty instead of being newly ordered.
A member of a uniformed service described in paragraph (1)(B) or (2)(B) of section 1074a(a) of this title may be ordered to active duty*, and a member of a uniformed service described in paragraph (1)(A) or (2)(A) of such section may be continued on active duty, for a period of more than 30 days while the member is being treated for (or recovering from) an injury, illness, or disease incurred or aggravated in the line of duty as described in any of such paragraphs.
