A person subject to this chapter who disobeys a lawful order or regulation, or neglects assigned duties, may receive any punishment a court-martial orders.
A person subject to this chapter may be punished as a court-martial directs if the person: (1) violates or fails to obey a lawful general order or regulation; (2) knows of another lawful order from a service member that the person must obey and fails to obey it; or (3) is neglectful in performing duties.
Any person subject to this chapter who—
violates or fails to obey any lawful general order or regulation;
having knowledge of any other lawful order issued by a member of the armed forces*, which it is his duty to obey, fails to obey the order; or
is derelict in the performance of his duties;
shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.
