10 U.S.C. § 894 — Art. 94. Mutiny or sedition

(a) A person subject to this chapter commits mutiny by joining with another, intending to take over lawful military authority, and refusing orders, failing in duty, or creating violence or disturbance. The person commits sedition by joining with another, intending to overthrow or destroy lawful civil authority, and creating revolt, violence, or another disturbance against it. The person commits failure to suppress or report mutiny or sedition by not doing the utmost to prevent and suppress it when present, or by not taking all reasonable steps to tell a superior commissioned or commanding officer about it when the person knows or reasonably believes it is happening. (b) A person convicted of attempted mutiny, mutiny, sedition, or failure to suppress or report it may be punished by death or another punishment a court-martial directs.
