2 U.S.C. § 1870 — House Historic Buildings Revitalization Trust Fund

This section creates a Treasury account for the Architect of the Capitol called the House Historic Buildings Revitalization Trust Fund. The money is for revitalizing major historic House buildings and assets, but the Architect needs House Appropriations Committee approval before obligating it; transferred money remains available until spent.
(a) Establishment. The Treasury must contain an account for the Architect of the Capitol called the House Historic Buildings Revitalization Trust Fund, called the “Fund” here.
(b) Use of amounts. The Architect must use Fund money to revitalize the major historic House buildings and assets that the Architect maintains and preserves. The Architect may not obligate Fund money without House Appropriations Committee approval.
(c) Continuing availability of funds. Money transferred to and merged with the Fund, or otherwise deposited into it, remains available until spent.
(d) Omitted.
(e) Effective date. This section and its amendment apply to fiscal year 2010 and every later fiscal year.
There is hereby established in the Treasury of the United States, as an account for the Architect of the Capitol, the House Historic Buildings Revitalization Trust Fund (hereafter in this section referred to as the “Fund”).
Amounts in the Fund shall be used by the Architect of the Capitol for the revitalization of the major historical buildings and assets of the House of Representatives which the Architect is responsible for maintaining and preserving, except that the Architect may not obligate any amounts in the Fund without the approval of the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives.
Any amounts transferred to and merged with, or otherwise deposited into, the Fund shall remain available until expended.
This section and the amendment made by this section shall apply with respect to fiscal year 2010 and each succeeding fiscal year.
