31 U.S.C. § 6102a — Assistance awards information system

The Director must maintain and quarterly update the Federal assistance-awards information system. The Director may delegate and validate its operation and must send the system’s data each quarter to specified congressional committees without charge.
(a) The Director must (1) maintain the United States Government assistance-awards information system created from the Federal Program Information Act study, and (2) update it quarterly. (b) To do this, the Director (1) may delegate the responsibility to another executive-agency head; (2) must review an agency head’s report on how the agency carries it out; and (3) may use appropriate methods to validate how an agency prepares that report. (c) Promptly after each calendar quarter ends, the Director must send the system’s subsection (a) data free to the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration and the House Committee on House Oversight.
The Director shall—
maintain the United States Government assistance awards information system established as a result of the study conducted under section 9 of the Federal Program Information Act; and
update the system on a quarterly basis.
To carry out subsection (a) of this section, the Director—
may delegate the responsibility for carrying out subsection (a) of this section to the head of another executive agency;
shall review a report the head of an agency submits to the Director on the method of carrying out subsection (a) of this section; and
may validate, by appropriate means, the method by which an agency prepares the report.
The Director shall transmit promptly after the end of each calendar quarter, free of charge, the data in the system required by subsection (a) to the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate and to the Committee on House Oversight of the House of Representatives.
