33 U.S.C. § 3206a — Tsunami Science and Technology Advisory Panel

(a) The Administrator must designate an existing working group in the Administration's Science Advisory Board as the Tsunami Science and Technology Advisory Panel. The Panel advises the Administrator about tsunami science, technology, and regional preparedness. (b) (1) The Panel must have at least 7 members chosen by the Administrator from academia or State agencies. They must have academic or practical expertise in physical sciences, social sciences, information technology, coastal resilience, emergency management, or another discipline the Administrator considers appropriate. (2) No member may be a Federal employee. (c) At least once every 4 years, the Panel must (1) review Administration and appropriate other Federal activities involving tsunami research, detection, forecasting, warning, mitigation, resilience, and preparation; and (2) send the Administrator and others the Administrator considers appropriate (A) the working group's findings from the latest review and (B) recommendations for legislative or administrative action to improve those Federal activities. (d) At least once every 4 years, the Administrator must report to the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee on the findings and recommendations received under subsection (c)(2).
