37 U.S.C. § 433a — Allowance for participation in Ready Reserve screening

(a) Allowance Authorized. (1) Under rules set by the Secretaries concerned, a member^* of the Individual Ready Reserve may be paid a stipend for taking part in the screening required under section 10149 of title 10. This stipend replaces the muster duty normally required under section 12319 of title 10, but only when the screening is done electronically. (2) This stipend is the only monetary allowance authorized for that electronic screening. It counts as full payment to the member for taking part, no matter what grade^* or rank^* the member holds.

(b) Maximum Payment. In any calendar year, the total stipend a member of the Individual Ready Reserve can be paid under this section cannot exceed $50.

(c) Payment Requirements. (1) This stipend cannot be paid "in kind" - it must be paid in money, not goods or services. (2) Payment to a member for taking part in the screening must be made on or after the date of the screening, but no later than 30 days after that date.
