The Secretary of Defense, working with the other administering Secretaries, sets the terms, rates, conditions, and regulations for this and the related subchapter covering uniformed-services members. These rules must be uniform within the Department of Defense and applied as consistently as possible across the other uniformed services.
This subchapter and subchapter I are administered under terms, rates, conditions, and regulations that the Secretary of Defense writes, in consultation with the other administering Secretaries, for uniformed-services members. These regulations must be uniform throughout the Department of Defense, and must apply as uniformly as practical to the other uniformed services* under the other administering Secretaries.
This subchapter and subchapter I shall be administered under terms, rates, conditions, and regulations prescribed by the Secretary of Defense in consultation with the other administering Secretaries for members of the uniformed services*. Such regulations shall be uniform for the Department of Defense and shall apply as uniformly as practicable to the uniformed services under the jurisdiction of the other administering Secretaries.
