Before starting their duties, every state legislator and every state executive or judicial officer must swear an oath to support the U.S. Constitution, using this exact wording.
Every member of a state legislature, and every executive and judicial officer of a state, must take an oath before beginning their official duties. The oath must use this exact wording: “I, A B, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States.”
Every member of a State legislature, and every executive and judicial officer of a State, shall, before he proceeds to execute the duties of his office, take an oath in the following form, to wit: “I, A B, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States.”
