42 U.S.C. § 12103 — Additional definitions

As used in this chapter: (1) Auxiliary aids and services. This term includes: (A) qualified interpreters, or other effective ways to make aurally delivered material available to people with hearing impairments; (B) qualified readers, taped texts, or other effective ways to make visually delivered material available to people with visual impairments; (C) getting or modifying equipment or devices; and (D) other similar services and actions. (2) State. "State" means each of the several states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Virgin Islands of the United States, the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
