42 U.S.C. § 13104 — Grants to States for State technical assistance programs

(a) General authority — The Administrator must give matching grants to states, to fund state programs that help businesses use source reduction techniques. (b) Criteria — When deciding on grant requests under this section, the Administrator must consider whether the state's proposed program would: (1) give businesses specific technical help about source reduction — including funding experts who visit businesses to give advice and help build source reduction plans; (2) target help toward businesses that lack information as their main obstacle to source reduction; and (3) provide training in source reduction techniques, possibly through local engineering schools or other means. (c) Matching funds — Federal money used in a state's program under this section can cover no more than 50 percent of the funds available to that state in each year it takes part. (d) Effectiveness — The Administrator must set up ways to measure how well the state grants under this section promote source reduction by businesses. (e) Information — States that get grants under this section must share with the Administrator the information the grants generate.
