42 U.S.C. § 8262h — United States Postal Service energy regulations

(a) In general — The Postmaster General must issue regulations to make sure energy costs are tracked reliably and accurately for every building or facility the Postal Service owns, leases, operates, or manages. These regulations must (1) set up a monitoring system to find which facilities cost the most to run per square foot or another useful measure; (2) catch unusual or abnormal changes in energy use; and (3) check that electricity and gas bills are accurate. (b) Identification of energy efficiency products — The Postmaster General must actively work to identify and buy energy-efficient products for Postal Service facilities, using, as much as practical, the energy-efficiency information already on GSA's and the Defense Logistics Agency's Federal Supply Schedules.
