49 U.S.C. § 47505 — Airport noise compatibility planning grants

The Secretary may give airport sponsors grants to prepare information for noise exposure maps or noise compatibility programs. The Government pays the percentage that would apply to airport-development projects under section 47109.
(a) General authority. The Secretary of Transportation may give an airport sponsor a planning grant to develop information needed to prepare and submit a noise exposure map and related information under section 47503, including the cost of obtaining that information, or to prepare a noise compatibility program under section 47504. (b) Amounts and share. The grant may use amounts available under section 48103. The Government’s share is the percentage for which airport development at that airport would qualify under section 47109(a) and (b).
The Secretary of Transportation may make a grant to a sponsor of an airport to develop, for planning purposes, information necessary to prepare and submit—
a noise exposure map and related information under section 47503 of this title, including the cost of obtaining the information; or
a noise compatibility program under section 47504 of this title.
A grant under subsection (a) of this section may be made from amounts available under section 48103 of this title. The United States Government’s share of the grant is the percent for which a project for airport development at an airport would be eligible under section 47109(a) and (b) of this title.
