The Administrator must annually report certain security-clearance revocations, terminations, and removals to specified congressional committees. The section defines which committees and employees are covered.
(a) Annual notification of security-clearance revocations. Around the time the President submits the budget under 31 U.S.C. § 1105(a), the Administrator must notify the appropriate congressional committees of (1) the number of covered employees whose security clearance was revoked during the preceding year and (2) for each, how long the employee had worked at the Administration since the revocation.
(b) Annual notification of terminations and removals. By December 31 each year, the Administrator must notify the committees of every instance that year in which the Administrator terminated a covered employee or, for cause, removed and reassigned one.
(c) Definitions. (1) "Appropriate congressional committees" means (A) the congressional defense committees* and (B) the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. This section does not otherwise define the quoted term. (2) "Covered employee" means (A) an Administration employee or (B) an employee of a Department of Energy element other than the Administration that works in nuclear security. This section does not otherwise define the quoted term.
