This section creates an advisory committee for use of the International Space Station as a national laboratory and keeps it in existence for the station’s life.
(a) Establishment. No later than one year after October 15, 2008, the Administrator* must establish under chapter 10 of title 5 a committee called the “International Space Station National Laboratory Advisory Committee,” called the “Committee” in this section.
(b) Membership. (1) Composition. The Committee must consist of people representing organizations with formal agreements with the Administration* to use the United States portion of the station, including allocations within partner elements. (2) Chair. The Administrator must appoint a chair from the members. The chair serves a 2-year term.
(c) Duties. (1) In general. The Committee must monitor, assess, and recommend ways to use the station effectively as a national laboratory and research platform. (2) Annual report. Each year, or more often if a majority of members considers it necessary, the Committee must send the Administrator a report containing those assessments and recommendations.
(d) Duration. The Committee exists for the life of the International Space Station.
Not later than one year after October 15, 2008, the Administrator* shall establish under chapter 10 of title 5 a committee to be known as the “International Space Station National Laboratory Advisory Committee” (hereafter in this section referred to as the “Committee”).
The Committee shall be composed of individuals representing organizations that have formal agreements with the Administration* to utilize the United States portion of the International Space Station, including allocations within partner elements.
The Administrator shall appoint a chair from among the members of the Committee, who shall serve for a 2-year term.
The Committee shall monitor, assess, and make recommendations regarding effective utilization of the International Space Station as a national laboratory and platform for research.
The Committee shall submit to the Administrator, on an annual basis or more frequently as considered necessary by a majority of the members of the Committee, a report containing the assessments and recommendations required by paragraph (1).
The Committee shall exist for the life of the International Space Station.
