10 U.S.C. § 1091a — Identification in patient medical records of affiliation of certain non-Department of Defense health care providers

(a) Requirement. The Secretary of Defense must ensure that Department of Defense medical records include the organizational affiliation of every independent health-care contractor identified in those records. (b) Definition. “Independent health care contractor” means a health-care provider who (1) is a nonpersonal-services contractor, or an employee of one, under subpart 37.4 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation or another applicable regulation; and (2) provides health-care services under this chapter in a military medical treatment facility, as defined in 10 U.S.C. § 1073c(j), or another place under the Secretary of Defense’s authority, including an operational clinic.
