A Reserve member’s work performing funeral honors for a veteran is not drill or training. It may instead be performed as funeral honors duty under 10 U.S.C. § 12503.
A Reserve member’s performance of funeral-honors functions at a veteran’s funeral is not a period of drill or training. The member may perform it as funeral honors duty under 10 U.S.C. § 12503. This section does not define “veteran”; it refers to the definition in 10 U.S.C. § 1491(h).
Performance by a Reserve of funeral honors functions at the funeral of a veteran (as defined in section 1491(h) of this title) may not be considered to be a period of drill or training, but may be performed as funeral honors duty under section 12503 of this title.
