10 U.S.C. § 130a — Department of Defense support for funerals and memorial events for Members and former Members of Congress

(a) Support for Funerals. Subject to subsection (b), the Secretary of Defense can provide whatever support the Secretary thinks is appropriate for a funeral or memorial event for a current or former Member of Congress, including transportation to and from the event. (b) Requests for Support; Secretary Determination. The Secretary can provide this support (1) if the Speaker of the House, the House Minority Leader, the Senate Majority Leader, or the Senate Minority Leader requests it; or (2) if the Secretary decides it's necessary to carry out the Department's duties or responsibilities. (c) Use of Funds. The Secretary can use funds appropriated for operation and maintenance to pay for this support.
