For this chapter and related retirement-pay laws, a person first becomes a uniformed-service member when first enlisted, inducted, or appointed. Table references in this chapter refer to sections of title 10.
(a) “First became a member.” For this chapter and other laws calculating uniformed-service retired or retainer pay*, a person first becomes a member on the date the person is first enlisted, inducted, or appointed in a uniformed service.
(b) References in tables. A section reference in a table in this chapter means a section of this title.
For purposes of this chapter and other provisions of law providing for computation of retired or retainer pay* of members of the uniformed services*, a person shall be considered to first become a member of a uniformed service on the date the person is first enlisted, inducted, or appointed in a uniformed service.
Section references in tables in this chapter are to sections of this title.
