10 U.S.C. § 144 — Director of Small Business Programs

(a) Director. The Department of Defense has a Director of Small Business Programs. The Secretary of Defense appoints this person. (b) Office of Small Business Programs. The Department also has an Office of Small Business Programs, set up under section 15(k) of the Small Business Act, inside the Office of the Secretary of Defense. The Director of Small Business Programs runs this office. (c) Duties and Powers. The Director carries out duties and uses powers over the Department's small business programs, as the Secretary of Defense decides to assign, but only as allowed under paragraph (2). Section 15(k) of the Small Business Act also applies to the Director — except for the parts of that law that name a different director or office, since this section already covers who holds those roles here.
