10 U.S.C. § 20202 — Original appointments: qualifications

This section sets who can become a Space Force officer. A candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18, and meet other standards the Secretary of the Air Force sets. A physical condition that won't interfere with duty doesn't disqualify someone.
(a) In General. A person can get an original appointment as a Space Force commissioned officer* only if they are a U.S. citizen, are at least 18 years old, and meet whatever other physical, mental, moral, professional, and age standards the Secretary of the Air Force sets by regulation.
(b) Exception. Someone who is otherwise qualified but has a physical condition may still be appointed, if the Secretary of the Air Force decides that condition won't get in the way of the duties they'd be assigned.
An original appointment as a commissioned officer* in the Space Force may be given only to a person who—
is a citizen of the United States;
is at least 18 years of age; and
has such other physical, mental, moral, professional, and age qualifications as the Secretary of the Air Force may prescribe by regulation.
A person who is otherwise qualified, but who has a physical condition that the Secretary of the Air Force determines will not interfere with the performance of the duties to which that person may be assigned, may be appointed as an officer* in the Space Force.
