10 U.S.C. § 2558 — National military associations: assistance at national conventions

A military-department Secretary may provide limited services at a national military association’s annual conference or convention if approved, connected with military-skills training, and funded from existing resources. Defense designates the associations and issues regulations.
(a) A military-department Secretary may provide the services in subsection (c) for an annual conference or convention of a national military association.
(b) Services are allowed only if the Secretary approves them in advance, they can be provided with training in appropriate military skills, and existing funds are sufficient.
(c) Covered services are limited air and ground transportation, communications, medical assistance, administrative support, and security support.
(d) The Secretary of Defense designates the organizations that qualify as national military associations.
(e) The Secretary of Defense must issue regulations to carry out this section.
The Secretary of a military department may provide services described in subsection (c) in connection with an annual conference or convention of a national military association.
Services may be provided under this section only if—
the provision of the services in any case is approved in advance by the Secretary concerned*;
the services can be provided in conjunction with training in appropriate military skills; and
the services can be provided within existing funds otherwise available to the Secretary concerned.
Services that may be provided under this section are—
limited air and ground transportation;
communications;
medical assistance;
administrative support; and
security support.
The Secretary of Defense shall designate those organizations which are national military associations for purposes of this section.
The Secretary of Defense shall prescribe regulations to carry out this section.
