This section permits a Department of Defense disbursing official to use certain public-money receipts charged in the official’s accounts for current expenditures without first depositing them with the Secretary of the Treasury. Necessary bookkeeping adjustments must be made, and river, harbor, and flood-control receipts are excluded.
A Department of Defense disbursing official may use public-money receipts charged in the official’s accounts for current expenses without depositing them to the Secretary of the Treasury’s credit and without withdrawing money on requisitions. This does not include receipts that must be credited to river, harbor, and flood-control appropriations. Necessary bookkeeping adjustments must be made.
Without deposit to the credit of the Secretary of the Treasury and without withdrawal on money requisitions, a disbursing official of the Department of Defense may use receipts of public money charged in the disbursing official’s accounts (except receipts to be credited to river, harbor, and flood control appropriations) for current expenditures, with necessary bookkeeping adjustments being made.
