10 U.S.C. § 348 — Aviation Leadership Program

(a) In General: Under regulations the Secretary of Defense sets, the Secretary of the Air Force may carry out an Aviation Leadership Program to give undergraduate pilot training, and related training, to personnel of the air forces of friendly, developing foreign countries. This training must include language training, and programs promoting better awareness and understanding of American democratic institutions and society. (b) Supplies and Clothing: (1) Under conditions the Secretary sets, the Secretary of the Air Force may provide a person receiving this training with: (A) transportation connected to the training; (B) supplies and equipment used during the training; (C) flight clothing and other special clothing the training requires; and (D) billeting, food, and health services. (2) The Secretary may authorize spending from Air Force appropriations that the Secretary considers necessary to run the Program efficiently and effectively under this section. (c) Allowances: The Secretary of the Air Force may pay a person receiving this training a living allowance, at a rate the Secretary sets, taking into account the living allowances authorized for members of the armed forces in similar circumstances.
