This section requires an 8-year minimum service obligation for a Marine Corps cyberspace operations officer who completes the specified training. It explains which active or Selected Reserve service counts toward that obligation.

(a) Cyberspace Operations Officer. A member who successfully completes armed-forces training for direct accession to the Marine Corps cyberspace operations officer specialty must serve at least 8 years. (b) Service Obligation Defined. “Service obligation” means the required period of active duty after the training. For a reserve-component member who completed the training while on active duty for training as a reserve member, it means the required period of service in an active status in the Selected Reserve. This section does not define “cyberspace operations officer occupational specialty.”
