This section establishes a Medical Officer of the Marine Corps and sets the officer’s appointment source and grade.
(a) There is a Medical Officer* of the Marine Corps who must be appointed from among flag officers of the Navy.
(b) The Medical Officer* of the Marine Corps, while so serving, must hold the grade* of rear admiral (lower half).
