An armed-forces member may not be confined in immediate association with enemy prisoners. The same rule covers certain foreign nationals detained under the law of war who are not armed-forces members.
No member of the armed forces* may be placed in confinement in immediate association with—
enemy prisoners; or
other individuals—
who are detained under the law of war and are foreign nationals; and
who are not members of the armed forces.
