This section keeps officers’ command and authority in force after a naval vessel or aircraft is wrecked, lost, or destroyed until the crew is discharged or reassigned.
If a naval vessel or aircraft is wrecked, lost, or destroyed and its crew is separated from it, the officers keep all their command and authority until the crew is discharged or reassigned.
If the crew of any naval vessel or naval aircraft are separated from their vessel or aircraft because of its wreck, loss, or destruction, all the command and authority given to the officers of the vessel or aircraft remain in full force until the crew are discharged or reassigned.
