The Secretary must periodically reconsider whether oil-shale production is needed for national defense. If the authorized amount is no longer needed, the Secretary must reduce production to the amount currently needed.
From time to time, the Secretary* must reconsider the national-defense need for oil-shale petroleum* production authorized under section 8722. If the Secretary finds the authorized quantity is no longer needed, the Secretary must reduce production to the amount currently needed for national defense*.
The Secretary* shall from time to time reexamine the need for the production of petroleum* from oil shale for national defense* when that production is authorized under section 8722 of this title. If he finds that the authorized quantity is no longer needed, he shall reduce production to the amount currently needed for national defense.
