This section lets the Secretary provide technical help for certain medical facilities. It also lets the Secretary use and pay for services and facilities of other Federal agencies.
(a) Technical assistance. At the request of a person* or organization operating or considering operating a group practice facility* or a medical practice facility*, the Secretary may provide or obtain technical assistance for planning and constructing the facility. “Medical practice facility” is used as defined in section 1749aaa–5; this section does not define that term.
(b) Use of Federal agencies' services and facilities; payment; advances or reimbursement. To avoid unnecessary duplication of existing Federal staff and facilities, the Secretary may use available services and facilities of any Federal agency to carry out this subchapter. The Secretary may pay for those services and facilities in advance or reimburse the agency, under an agreement between the Secretary and the head of that agency.
At the request of individuals or organizations operating or contemplating the operation of group practice facilities or medical practice facility* (as defined in section 1749aaa–5 of this title), the Secretary may provide or obtain technical assistance in the planning for and construction of such facilities.
With a view to avoiding unnecessary duplication of existing staffs and facilities of the Federal Government, the Secretary is authorized to utilize available services and facilities of any agency of the Federal Government in carrying out the provisions of this subchapter, and to pay for such services and facilities, either in advance or by way of reimbursement, in accordance with an agreement between the Secretary and the head of such agency.
