14 U.S.C. § 2713 — Employment assistance

(a) In general. To improve the accuracy and completeness of the job-skills and experience certification or verification required by section 1143(a)(1) of title 10, the Secretary^* must establish a database recording all Coast Guard member training that may apply to civilian employment. The Secretary must also make unclassified information about that training available to States and other potential employers referred to in section 1143(c) of title 10, so they may allow military training to satisfy licensing or certification requirements for a civilian profession.

(b) Form of certification or verification. The Secretary must make the certification or verification required by section 1143(a)(1) of title 10 in a form that lets States and other potential employers confirm that it is accurate and authentic.

(c) Requests by States. A State may ask the Secretary to confirm the accuracy and authenticity of a job-skills and experience certification or verification provided under section 1143(c) of title 10.
