The President may appoint a Coast Guard flag officer as Chief of Staff to the President. The Senate must approve this appointment.
With the Senate's advice and consent, the President may appoint a flag officer of the Coast Guard — a general- or admiral-level officer — to serve as Chief of Staff to the President.
The President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, may appoint a flag officer of the Coast Guard as the Chief of Staff to the President.
